Proofing by Jean-Paul Russell; graphic design by Mark Michaelson; color by Russell; screen preparation by Russell; edition printing by Russell, assisted by Curt Weiss. John Giorno visited Durham Press in 1991 to adapt text he had been working with into an edition of prints. Nine excerpts of Giorno’s words were chosen to be developed into individual prints, each graphically designed by Mark Michaelson. Colors were chosen during proofing that would help evoke the sentiment of each line – metallic gold and silver shimmer like a ‘party for the gods,’ while the contrasting black, white, and red communicate the dramatic statement ‘it’s worse than I thought.’ Nine individual images were developed as a set of prints, later editioned as the portfolio Poem Prints.
